Horrible unit

Capacitors are subpar for this appliance. Unit stopped cooling less than a year in use. Have yet to receive warranty info. As well as when it rains and the unit gets wet, it was built with no drain. Causing the only way for water to escape out of the appliance case is evaporation. This immediately led to mold, mildew and algae to form inside the case. The water build up in the case causes some temperature gauge failure. Resulting in the unit to read a false temperature and not cool or heat correctly. Unit is quite efficient when it™€™s turned off. I assumed GE built robust and reliable appliances. However seeing all the engineering failures in this unit concerns me. If this unit accurately represents GE as a company it shows that they can make an appliance but forget to engineer fail safes or they may do it on purpose. Therefor I would personally stay away from GE appliances thanks to this experience because I™€™m the one that has to switch it out! Bad thing about it is I don™€™t want to put the same unit back in because it will have the same problems and I would likely have to do this all over again. Think about your purchase you want a unit that will last years and years to come. This one fails within 6 months. Cheap parts/unreliable machines. All that being said I am glad for this experience and thankful it could™€™ve been much worse. I™€™m glad I got this experience of GE products because if I would™€™ve gotten a GE fridge it could™€™ve ruined all my food. But now I know. Is a refund possible?

The unit installed fairly easily, cools just fine, quiet. airflow is fine. Three problems arose. 1.the Styrofoam air channel directly behind the direction fins arrived slightly damaged? A small piece. Is this piece easily replaceable. 2. there needs to be a connector between the unit and the front grill / filter. It was an effort to slide the unit into the rack and hold the front grill so that the cable did not get damaged. We did OK, previous units I have worked with had a connector to plug or disconnect the front grill. I do not buy GE equipment because they cut corners. they did here. 3. The display is very poor and difficult to read with the lights on (the temperature setpoint, fan and mode. I have to cover the display with my hand. pushing the display button on remote helps

Everything on installation was fine except there are 6 screws to remove ,not four. The screws for the mounting braces were too small for the self tapping screw. The threaded holes for the bolts were the wrong count as it was like trying to turn a cross threaded bolt. Overall the unit performed great. It is very quiet, and the control panel is straight forward.

For the same price, you can get the heat pump version, which is also physically smaller. This one takes 2 people to install. The display is barely visible in a lighted room. The app is better than nothing but insists on internet access to use it, no local control.

This AC/Heating Unit failed to function

I purchase this AC/Heating Unit earlier this year and installed it. It wouldn't heat and the cooling function would not shut off once it reached the ideal temperature. I've purchased four Frigidaire AC units before this and they all worked great. I'm so disappointed. I spend a lot of time and money installing the unit. I should have spent more time testing it before installation. I've noticed online that other people are having trouble with this unit.

Unless you have another ac running this one doesn't do a whole lot. It helps out with the one we already have but for the price it's not worth it. Only used the heat 2 times and it isn't really heat it's kinda like lukewarm water. Just not warm enough to do the trick. I am pretty sure next summer we'll have to get another one because I don't think this one actually gets down to 64 degrees as it says. I review everything I buy honestly and I wish I had read the reviews on this one before I spent that much. I suppose if you were in a tiny and I mean tiny little room it may benefit you. Mine is in a 450 sq ft room with another 10,000 btu ac so it should be ice cold in here.

From the second it turned on it only took a few moments to make the entire apartment cool down. Normally I don't do well in summer because I struggle with over heating and the AC never seems to help, but I haven't had to deal with that once in the entire summer this year!! I had another unit that was not putting out enough cold air...it took all day in Florida for my bedroom to cool down and even then it was not cool...now I have cold air...and it is so much better after working outside in the heat all day...this is a major game changer. I have not yet had the opportunity to learn how to connect to my internet but we are getting a new internet router soon so I will wait until that is done to try this feature. I would recommend this AC unit. It is perfect for a medium sized room.

It is a bit of work to install but as long as the instructions are followed it fits like a glove. The cooling is amazing, my older unit went out for 2 days and 20 minutes in this one cooled the room down even colder than the last unit and with half the noise. This one comes heating so I'm excited to see how that works for the winter. The smart features on the app make controlling it so cool and futuristic as long as you're tech savvy with a smart phone but if not it does come with a remote to save headaches controlling it. The Eco settings are gonna make saving energy way easier. Overall it's a strong, but light unit to install for medium sized rooms with a bunch of features but most important, it cools amazingly!!
